The Tara, a model home produced by Nationwide Homes for Plantation Homes, an authorized builder located in Murrell’s Inlet, South Carolina, has won a first place award in an annual national design contest sponsored by the Building Systems Council of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and Building Systems Magazine. This is the third consecutive year and sixth time in the last ten years that one of the company’s models has captured a first place in the ‘Excellence in Model Home Design’ competition, which draws entries from homebuilders throughout the country. The winning model in the over 2,200 square foot category, the Tara, was cited by the judges for its great use of merchandising, curb appeal and first class decorating. Winners are selected on the basis of overall design, buyer appeal, model merchandising, exterior treatments, landscaping and other amenities. Distinctive features of the 3,600 square foot, three-level model home include: A spacious kitchen with adjacent powder room, a breakfast area, gracious living room and dining room, inviting sunroom and a luxurious master bedroom suite with whirlpool tub, all of which are located on the first floor. A second level includes two expansive bedrooms and two full baths and a 16 x 28 foot game room/media room with vaulted ceiling. The optional third level can be used as an exercise room or for an additional bedroom. The model also demonstrates many of the optional features available with Nationwide Homes sixty designs and customized models, including a wrap-around porch, 9’ 6” ceilings, stainless steel appliances, Corian kitchen countertops, hardwood floors, ceramic tile and a high efficiency gas fireplace. The retail price of the Tara in the Murrell’s Inlet area is $395,000 not including the lot. Alternative plans and options are available to meet homebuyer’s individual needs.
