Nationwide Homes, a leading producer of modular systems housing, has been notified by the judges that its model home in the North Carolina has won first place in the over 2,000 square feet category of the Excellence in Model Home Design Competition sponsored by the Building Systems Councils of the National Association of Homebuilders (NAHB) and Building Systems Magazine, a leading building trade publication. This is the second consecutive year and the fifth time in the last nine years that one of the company’s models has achieved this prestigious award in a contest that draws entries from homebuilders throughout the country. The 3,100 square foot, two story award-winning model, called the Charleston, was set in Huntersville, NC in April 1999. A distinctive feature of the home is the spacious living and expansion opportunities it offers to a growing family. A convenient kitchen, breakfast area, dining room, family room, living room, and laundry room are located downstairs. A master suite, two bedrooms and bathroom and a sitting/sewing room are on the second level. An optional recreation room, home office or fourth bedroom can be located on a third level. The Charleston model also demonstrates many of the standard and optional features available on any of nationwide Homes sixty models or customized homes. These include a 9’ 6” ceiling, gas fireplace, built-in bookshelves, hardwood floors, trayed ceilings, crown moulding and a downdraft range.
