1st Certified Green Development in Pinellas and Hillsborough County

Glencairn Cottages in Dunedin is Pinellas and Hillsborough County’s first certified Green Development and is Tampa Bay’s first completely green community where all of the homes will also be certified green.

Glencairn Cottages was certified as a Green Development on May 16, 2008 by the Florida Green Building Coalition (FGBC). The FGBC is a nonprofit Florida corporation dedicated to improving the building environment.

“We are committed to reducing the consumption of energy, conserving water, and preserving our precious natural resources,” explained Glencairn Cottages’ developer, Carl Krave, President of Pocket Neighborhoods, Inc. “We are focused on building small communities of exceptional homes. We are committed to open development that fits within the ecosystem and connects with our immediate neighbors.”

The FGBC mission is "to provide a statewide green building program with environmental and economic benefits." ( The FGBC has demanding standards for builders who wish to build green homes. Creating an entire green community is even more difficult, especially when building a new community within an already-established neighborhood.

Glencairn Cottages is currently under construction in Dunedin and site work is nearly complete. Construction of the first model will begin in June. The 14 single-family homes range from 1,476 square feet to 1,988 square feet and prices start at $319,900. Glencairn Cottages is located on Douglas Avenue one block south of Main Street, Dunedin.

She always answered our phone calls and/or texts no matter when or what time it was. Quinton Small, our construction supervisor, did more than we could have every imagined. He was always willing to help us in anyway possible. We are thrilled with our beautiful home and highly recommend Nationwide Homes!"
